Technology
Care Controls and a leading vision manufacturer have teamed up to create
the Canalyzer OCV. Several years of in-plant development and over 50
successful installations have proved the system to be reliable and extremely
accurate. This fully integrated and turnkey inspection system is much more
like a sensor and much less like a vision system than has been available in
the past. The purpose of the OCV reader is to dynamically read the inkjet code
on can ends and to verify that the cans coincide with the current order.
The system eliminates problems such as rogue cans, cans will missing or damaged
code print, and identifies when an improper pallet is unloaded onto the line.
This eliminates costly mistakes that may not be recognized until it is too late.
There are two locations on the canning line that the Canalyzer OCV will return maximum
benefits: directly after the inkjet and immediately in front of the labeler.
These locations are recommended for both straight run lines as well as bright stack
operations. The OCV reader coupled with the inkjet printer ensures that both a code
is printed on the can and it is good quality, a must for lines that export product.
The OCV reader prior to the labeler will remove incorrect and rogue cans before they
even are labeled. This location has the added benefit of matching the can code to the
SKU on the label, eliminating mislabeled cans.

Control
The Canalyzer OCV is simple to install and setup. The unit is offered in two
configurations, permanent mounting and temporary mount. The permanent mount offers
a very stable and easily adjustable inspection platform while the temporary mount
has the added feature of quickly disconnecting from the line and moved for wash
down areas. Both configurations are easily and quickly adjusted for any can size.
The Canalyzer OCV reader is trained from the same font file that is used in the inkjet
printer so the operator simply selects the desired code from a menu and the unit is ready
to run. The Canalyzer OCV may also be easily setup remotely with our Label Line
Integration Software Package, which makes the unit hands off and eliminates potential
mistakes due to human error.

Versions
The Canalyzer OCV is available in two versions. The full version can be used anywhere
on the line due to its ability to read the cans in any random orientation. For
applications that only require inspection of the code directly after the ink jet printer,
there is the Canalyzer Best By. This system is suitable for reading product codes and
best by dates while the codes are still orientated. As an option for this version,
additional mounting can be built into the system for mounting the print head on the
same same fixture to make setup and adjustment even easier.
